I didn't expect much from my x-ray. The hospital had offered to X-ray me in order to check whether I had protuberances in my spine that my nerves would struggle to get past. I wasn't quite sure what to think about; what if it did? It didn't sound like something you good do something about. I don't want anybody sawing or filing in my spine really close to big important nerves. But an x-ray is quite straightforward, so I went for it. And then nothing happened for a while. At some point I got suspicious and started checking my phone; it turned out I had missed a call from the physiotherapist. So I quickly phoned back! Then I got me a new appointment.
When I got there she quickly told me that the x-ray hadn't shown anything unusual. So now what? She said I could get an MRI. I again wondered whether anything that would show up on a scan like that would be anything treatable. If it isn't, then what is the point? But she said she was a physiotherapist and wasn't sure what people with other specialisms could treat. So I decided to go ahead with it. I'm running out of options a bit! And I had a bit of a fallback, but it didn't last, and I am back to a state when I still need my voice recognition software, but can supplement that with hands work. I can just sketch atmospheric circulation in a graphic program and get away with it. As long as I don't get too carried away. I still need to do my typing with my voice! So I will just continue to do my exercises and try to use my hands so much they get a bit of training, but not so much that I overdo it. And that sounds like a rather slow road back to recovery. So on the off-chance that an MRI actually helps, I will happily sit on a waiting list for a while! And I am not a priority patient so don't hold your breath while waiting for an update on this…
