I like running, no matter what the weather is. I also run in the rain. I normally just resign myself to getting wet. In extreme cases, I might wear a waterproof hiking jacket. I did that for instance on the big training run for my marathon, many years ago. The weather was so foul! And I had to run for hours. I also sometimes wear one for shorter runs, like one with sleet.
Sometimes it is compulsory to have them on you, as for instance (and rightly so) for the Snowdon Twilight race. But these jackets are bulky, and a running vest doesn't give you much space. After the Snowden Twilight I got a bit fed up and started googling the best lightweight running waterproof jackets. Runners World did have a good list of recommendations. I didn't want the best of the best! I won't wear or carry one very often. But when it's compulsory it's nice you don't fill up all the space in your vest, and on Thursday Night Hill sessions it can be nice to bring one. And there was a recommendation for people on a budget. So I went for that one. It's not as if I'm skint, but if I want to spend good money I'd rather do that on something I use a lot. (Like my bike, which recently went for maintenance again.)
It arrived soon. And in spite of it being the budget option, it was still quite lightweight and stashable! Success! I'm sure an opportunity to try it out will present itself in the not too distant future. And I have taken another step deeper into runner nerdiness!
