Other Easter activities

I had really hoped to do some amazing running over the Easter break. That clearly didn't happen! And I already mentioned that I had that done some work, and gone for some bike rides and a walk. But of course I did more than that. This was an opportunity to catch up on things that needed doing for a while.

One of the things I did was finally deal with the trunk of a silver birch my neighbour had given me. I had dealt with most of the wood he gave me quite quickly, but this trunk is too big to fit underneath my mitre saw, so I have to saw it by hand. That is quite some work. But it's now all sawn and split!

I also looked for someone who might be able to replace my garden stairs. I had a look at whether it was feasible for me to replace individual rotten bits, but I decided against. More of the wood is rotting than I thought, and the stairs won't be safe for much longer. I have been in contact with someone and we will soon discuss details. I hope we can come to an agreement.

Another thing I did was prepare handing my duties to the next membership secretary of the cave rescue team. I'm stepping down in less than two months! And someone who is new to the job can probably do with some documentation of the practicalities involved.

And there of course also is the peacefully reading a book next to the cat. And that is unspectacular, but really lovely. And catching up with friends (I saw Charlotte and Sue and Dean). And doing dull things like laundry and cooking and the dishes.

The perk of reading a book next to the cat: seize paparazzi opportunities

I also spent quite some time in the garden! But that will get a blog post of its own. But it does feel good to have got a few of those things that have been lying around for ages out of the way now!
