My friend Kate was offshore, and wasn't expected back until quite close to Christmas, which she intended to spend elsewhere. I was hoping to see her for the first time around New Year's Day. I kept in touch with her while she was away, and when I just sent her a message asking how she was she answered that she was home. Home? That was a bit early! But I immediately suggested catching up, and we did. It was really good to see her! And I had to enjoy it, as she was about to leave for all sorts of other endeavours shortly afterwards. It was nice to sneak in a lunch together! And catch up. I felt like I didn't have much to say other than work-related things, but so be it. The time will come that she will be at home by default; I look forward to that!
