Goodbye to the plants

In late March I got a whole lot of guest plants. Martin was moving out of his house, and put his stuff into storage. You can’t put plants in storage. So they lived with me for a while. But he has now been in his new abode since May, and I had reminded him they lived in a conservatory. It gets pretty hot in summer! I tried to keep them alive and in good health, but I couldn't promise anything. So in the end, he came to pick them up.

They were all looking quite healthy except for the somewhat lacklustre orchids. But orchids seem to be difficult. And when we had loaded them all up, his car looked like a veritable jungle. My conservatory looked enormous and empty! It had actually looked quite good with all these plants.

As good as it had looked with these plants, I don't think I'll replace them. It is a bit difficult to keep plants alive in a space that is so hot in summer and so cold in winter. Although, I'm sure there are plants that can deal with that. Extreme seasons is what continental plants will have evolved for. Maybe I should actually google which plants are made for that type of climate, and purchase some. It really did look good!
